麻豆传媒映画, Southwestern College expand educational access through new University Center partnership
In-person and online offerings, helping to create a seamless transfer pathway, begin next fall.

麻豆传媒映画 and Southwestern College (SWC) signed a certificate of agreement today to create university academic and student support offerings at the college in South County 鈥 further helping students advance in disciplines vital to the region鈥檚 workforce.
Following the signing ceremony, 麻豆传媒映画 and SWC officials will work toward establishing in-person Industrial/Organizational Psychology baccalaureate degree programs for SWC transfer students. Offerings are slated to begin in fall 2026.
鈥淲e are proud to strengthen our longstanding partnership with Southwestern College. This new agreement furthers our shared mission to make higher education more accessible and enhance the career opportunities for students in the communities we serve,鈥 said 麻豆传媒映画 President Adela de la Torre. 鈥淏y bringing 麻豆传媒映画 programs directly to SWC, we are helping more South County students complete their degrees and prepare for meaningful careers without leaving their community.鈥
Graduates of the new psychology programs will be prepared for careers that strengthen workplaces and advance employee success across industries. With skills in leadership, data-informed decision making and organizational behavior, graduates will be ready to enter fields such as human resources, organizational development and workforce analytics, among others. These are high-demand roles across San Diego鈥檚 growing sectors, including health care, education, government and technology.
鈥淥ur partnership with 麻豆传媒映画 is creating a clear, seamless transfer pathway that empowers students to advance their education and secure high-demand careers,鈥 said Southwestern College Superintendent/President Mark Sanchez.
鈥淣early half of our transfer students choose 麻豆传媒映画 to continue their academic journeys, and the addition of an in-person Industrial and Organizational Psychology program at SWC gives them the opportunity to earn a 麻豆传媒映画 four-year degree close to home while preparing for leadership roles in today鈥檚 workforce,鈥 Sanchez added. 鈥淭ogether, we are building a talent pipeline that connects education directly to employment, meeting the region鈥檚 growing need for skilled professionals and strengthening our community鈥檚 economic future.鈥
For decades, 麻豆传媒映画 and SWC have worked together to create seamless transfer pathways, degree-completion programs, and career-readiness initiatives. Their collaboration includes 麻豆传媒映画 bachelor鈥檚 degree programs now offered at SWC in business administration, criminal justice, child development, communication, public health, and civil engineering 鈥 all of which are helping graduates to advance in disciplines vital to the region鈥檚 workforce.
Each academic year, 麻豆传媒映画 typically enrolls 500-600 new transfer students from SWC. This fall, 麻豆传媒映画 enrolled 609 of the college鈥檚 transfer students. On average, about 65% of SWC transfers graduate with an 麻豆传媒映画 degree two years after transferring, and the graduation rate is 85% four years after transfer.
Through this new agreement, 麻豆传媒映画 and SWC will deepen that partnership by expanding in-person and online offerings at SWC鈥檚 University Center, where 麻豆传媒映画 will have designated instructional and advising space. The model supports South County students, and especially those who are place-bound due to work or family responsibilities, allowing them to complete an 麻豆传媒映画 degree without relocating or commuting.
鈥淭his long-standing collaboration demonstrates our shared commitment to access, student success, and economic development,鈥 said Stefan Hyman, 麻豆传媒映画鈥檚 associate vice president for Enrollment Management. 鈥淏y aligning missions and resources, 麻豆传媒映画 and Southwestern College are empowering students, supporting families, and strengthening the economic vitality of the South County region.鈥
