Key events in our company's history:

1981

Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­ begins as a small oil and gas exploration and production company called Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­ Resources.

1989

Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­ Resources creates a midstream subsidiary to market its oil and gas and that of other producers.

1992-1993

The focus shifts solely to crude oil and targets building and acquiring terminals, gathering systems, pipelines, trucks and other midstream assets.

1993-1994

Constructs the Cushing Terminal in Oklahoma, a 2-million-barrel crude storage facility that was the largest infrastructure development west of the Mississippi at the time, and acquires land for future expansion.

1998

Acquires the All American Pipeline and executes IPO of Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­ All American.

1999

Acquires Scurlock Permian and Chevron West Texas Pipeline.

2001

Management and investor group acquires controlling interest in PAA’s GP from Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­ Resources and separates the midstream business from the exploration and production business.

2001

Acquires CANPET and Murphy Oil Company’s midstream crude oil assets, consolidating the two into what is now known as Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­ Midstream Canada.

2005-2006

Secures 2,500 acres on the Mississippi River in Louisiana and builds Phase I and II of the St. James Terminal. After continued expansions over the years, the terminal is now a 12.5-million-barrel crude storage and terminalling facility that includes a private dock, creating a hub for Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­ on the Gulf Coast.

2006

Completes merger with Pacific Energy Partners and makes eight acquisitions.

2008-2013

Opens the 2.8-million-barrel Patoka Terminal in Illinois, providing initial direct access to Canadian crude. Patoka grows through a series of five expansion projects to become a 6.1-million-barrel storage hub.

2012

Acquires Canadian NGL assets from BP.

2013

Executes IPO of portion of PAA’s General Partner (NYSE:PAGP).

2016

The Red River Pipeline enters service, capable of moving 110,000 barrels per day of crude oil from Cushing, Okla. to Longview, Texas.

2017

Acquires the Alpha Crude Connector gathering system in the Permian Basin. The Diamond Pipeline, a joint venture with Valero and the largest organic pipeline system construction project in the company’s history, enters service.

2018

Celebrated 20 years of PAA being publicly listed View Our 20 Year Video

2019

The Cactus II Pipeline System enters service, capable of transporting 670,000 barrels of crude oil per day from Wink, Texas to Corpus Christi.

2021

Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­ Oryx Permian Basin, a joint venture between Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­ and Oryx Midstream Services, is formed. The combined system includes ~5,500 miles of pipeline, ~6.8 million barrels per day of pipeline capacity, and ~16.9 million barrels operational storage capacity.
